All over the world, families living in poverty are struggling heroically against tremendous odds. CFCA’s Hope for a Family sponsorship program is based on the belief that, despite these odds, any one of them can find real hope through friendship with you and your family.

Your letters, concern and $30 a month will do much more than meet basic needs of nutrition, education and health. Your friendship and support also provide a hopeful presence for your friend and your friend’s family, encouraging them and giving them the tools they need on their path to self-sufficiency..

A true exchange of cultures, understanding and love

As a sponsor, you will learn about a new culture and gain a greater awareness and understanding of the realities of families living in poverty and the unique gifts they have to share.

Your sponsored friend will write you a letter twice a year, usually in the fall and spring. You will also receive an updated photo of your friend each year.

We encourage sponsors to write their sponsored friends to offer encouragement and build a friendship. We suggest writing at least once a year, but you may write more often if you choose. Postcards or greeting cards are an easy way to let your sponsored friend know you are thinking of them. When necessary, your letter or card will be translated at the CFCA project serving your friend.

CFCA sponsorship lasts as long as your friend is in the program, or however long you choose to continue as a sponsor. The majority of sponsor relationships last many years, and have a lifelong impact.
