My Sponsorship
Pay for an existing sponsorship. If you want to sponsor a new child or aging friend please go to the New Sponsorship form.
CFCA offers a number of special funds as an alternative to sponsorship or to supplement the sponsorship program. Contributions may be made to these funds in any amount and at any frequency. One hundred percent of all contributions to special funds are used directly for the purpose designated.
Birthday Fund
For many sponsored children, a CFCA birthday celebration may be the first time they have a party to celebrate their birth into the world. This is a special day cherished by CFCA sponsored children. The Birthday Fund provides CFCA children and aging friends with a celebration and gift, or additional benefits, selected by the project staff to be culturally appropriate.
Christmas Fund
In celebration of the joyous Christmas season, every child and aging person participates in celebrations that respect the religion and culture of the region, and often include the families of sponsored friends. Gifts (practical and fun) or additional benefits are selected by the project staff to ensure appropriateness.
Disaster Assistance Fund
In emergencies, such as natural disasters, CFCA is able to provide additional financial support to our projects through the Disaster Assistance Fund. Donations received for this fund help to address the emergency needs of sponsored members and their families. The fund has been used to help meet emergency needs following earthquakes, hurricanes, volcanic eruptions, typhoons, floods and mudslides.
Food Assistance Fund
In 2008, food prices around the world skyrocketed, dramatically affecting CFCA sponsored members and their families, who are living on extremely limited incomes and already struggle to obtain proper nutrition. Though prices have fallen from their peaks in early 2008, they are still high compared with previous years and are expected to remain high in the foreseeable future.
One hundred percent of contributions to the Food Assistance Fund are used by CFCA projects to either purchase life-sustaining food for families in greatest need, or to develop programs aimed at helping families achieve long-term food security. Funds donated are used where CFCA determines they are most needed.
General Fund
Contributions to this fund are used to strengthen relationships between sponsors and their sponsored friends, to provide grants for special needs of CFCA projects and sponsored members, and for support of the CFCA Scholarship Program.
Healthy Communities Fund
CFCA’s Healthy Communities Fund supports initiatives aimed at improving the health and hygiene of sponsored members, their families and their communities. Funds are granted at the request of CFCA field projects who demonstrate the greatest need as determined by CFCA. Initiatives funded by the Healthy Communities Fund can include treatment services for illnesses such as HIV/AIDs, supplying equipment and therapeutic services for member with disabilities, digging wells for clean water, providing hygiene education, building sanitary toilets and addressing other sanitation needs.
Housing Fund
The CFCA Housing Fund is used to repair damaged homes or build new homes so that sponsored members may live in more adequate conditions. CFCA projects assess needs based on site visits and personal interviews. Amounts contributed to the housing fund are pooled and distributed to families identified as most in need. Housing needs may arise as a result of natural disasters such as typhoons, hurricanes, mudslides, floods and earthquakes; fires; wars; civil unrest; or conditions of extreme poverty.
Livelihood Program Fund
Contributions to the Livelihood Program Fund are used by our field projects to support programs that help CFCA families earn a living. These programs can teach family members a marketable skill, such as sewing, tailoring, baking or farming. They can provide seed capital for microloan funds available to CFCA mothers and fathers starting or expanding small businesses. Or the programs can provide CFCA families with livestock or seedlings for sustainable agriculture projects. Funds donated are used to support various livelihood programs in CFCA projects. Contributions cannot be designated through this fund for individual families.
This fund allows sponsors to extend much-needed additional support to their sponsored friend’s project. Funds are used for beneficiaries most in need of extra help or for benefits the regular sponsorship budget cannot address such as medical emergencies, funerals, and housing repairs. CFCA projects determine the best use of Project Need funds, and contributions cannot be directed to a specific person or need.
If you sponsor more than one child, contributions will be divided equally between your sponsored friend’s projects unless otherwise requested. If you are not currently a sponsor, contributions will go to the project most in need of assistance.
Higher education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty for the children and families served in our CFCA projects. The CFCA Scholarship Program allows donors and sponsors alike to help in this effort. This program was created to help deserving older youth and young adults pursue higher education at secondary schools, vocational schools and college/university programs. It provides direct financial assistance to aspiring students who demonstrate a special commitment to service within their communities.
The Scholarship Program provides funding to program participants for tuition, books, transportation and meals. In return, students must maintain satisfactory grades and participate in service projects within local CFCA projects. The community service component is one of the most important aspects of the program. Scholarship students provide valuable service hours to CFCA projects and serve as positive role models for younger children.
Sponsorship Assistance Fund
The Sponsorship Assistance Fund provides sponsors experiencing temporary economic challenges assistance to continue their sponsorships until they are able to resume regular contributions. The fund began in 2005 to help sponsors impacted by Hurricane Katrina continue supporting and encouraging their sponsored friends. Since then, the fund has been utilized to assist sponsors experiencing temporary financial difficulties resulting from a job loss, health problem, natural disaster or other crisis—continuing the relationship between sponsor and sponsored friend.
With a suggested donation of $15 to the CFCA Scholarship program, you will receive a CD with 10 songs written and performed by Barclay Martin.
Your donation will support CFCA's scholarship program, which helps students receive an education by funding basic needs, such as tuition, school-required uniforms and books. This support allows youth to finish high school, attend college or vocational training, and helps their families and communities create a path out of poverty.
Contributions more than the fair market value of $15 each for CDs are 100% tax deductible as allowed by law.
