CFCA projects in Mexico report damage from Hurricane Alex

MONTERREY, Mexico—Alex, a Category 2 hurricane that hit northeast Mexico June 30, damaged the homes of sponsored members, according to the latest reports from CFCA projects in Guadalupe and Santa Catarina.

Both projects are located in the state of Nuevo Leon, the state hardest hit by the hurricane. Major media reported that 40,000 residents of Nuevo Leon were displaced by the storm. CFCA serves about 5,500 children, youth and aging members through both projects.

Guadalupe staff members arrived at the office Monday and began communicating with CFCA communities in the area to assess the damage. The staff had been unable to reach the office since July 1 because of flooding.

It can take several days to determine how many families have been impacted and the extent of the damage. CFCA will report information on this website as it becomes available.

Please keep the CFCA sponsored members from these projects, their families and the staff in your prayers.
