Fourth typhoon in a month strikes Philippines

The Philippines was struck by Typhoon Mirinae, the fourth such storm in a month, bringing more severe rainfall and winds to the eastern coastal province of Quezon.

BBC online reported that “Mirinae, with winds of 150 km/h (93mph) and gusts of up to 186 km/h (115mph) made landfall on Quezon around midnight Friday, sweeping west, south of the capital and weakening into a tropical storm on Saturday afternoon.”

CFCA staff members in the Philippines are assessing the storm’s impact on sponsored members' families. More information will be posted as CFCA receives reports.

The CFCA community offers prayers of support to all people affected by the impact of the typhoons.

Sponsors wishing to help may donate to CFCA’s Disaster Assistance Fund. One hundred percent of donations to this fund are sent to CFCA projects to help individuals and families affected by disasters. Funds donated are used where they are most needed, and CFCA retains discretion as to the use of the funds. In addition to emergency relief, contributions may be used for long-term assistance.
