Walk2gether celebrates 1-year anniversary
December 29, 2010
CFCA is celebrating the 1-year anniversary of Walk2gether, a pilgrimage undertaken by CFCA President and Co-founder Bob Hentzen to walk 8,000 miles from Guatemala to Chile.

Walk2gether on Dec. 29, 2009.
Hentzen said the trip through 12 countries is about love – to show families living in poverty that they are not alone. He also hopes to raise awareness about the living conditions faced by these families, who often earn less than $2 per day.
Since the walk started on Dec. 29, 2009, CFCA has taken steps to be in solidarity with its president throughout the countries he has visited.
The Kansas City headquarters' staff, for example, had a lunch with traditional Peruvian food to celebrate the halfway mark of Walk2gether while it was in Peru.
The CFCA Hermano Pedro project in Guatemala has conducted 40-kilometer (about 24-mile) walks on the 29th of every month since Walk2gether began.
"By walking in solidarity with Bob, we discover the kinds of human connections that can heal our world," said Paco Wertin, CFCA chief executive officer. "This life-affirming journey, side by side with those living in poverty, is cause for hope and fills us with gratitude and joy."
Hentzen has been surrounded by the CFCA community along the walk route. Many accompany him through prayers and steps of solidarity around the globe. Thousands of sponsored members, families, sponsors and staff also join him physically on the journey.
