Typhoon Bopha strikes southern Philippines
December 4, 2012
ZAMBOANGA, Philippines — Strong winds and heavy rains hit the southern Philippines with Typhoon Bopha's landfall at 4:45 a.m. local time Tuesday.
CFCA staffers in Zamboanga City reported the area has experienced heavy rains, but not as much as in other parts of Mindanao, an island in the southern Philippines.
No deaths, injuries or significant damage have been reported among CFCA sponsored friends and family members.
CFCA serves about 45,000 sponsored children and elderly persons in the Philippines. More than 3,000 of them live in the Zamboanga area.
Please keep everyone affected by the typhoon in your thoughts and prayers.
