CFCA Filipino families safe after fire

MANILA, Philippines — CFCA projects in Quezon and Manila reported that sponsored members, their families and staff members were not affected by a fire that swept through a shantytown in Quezon City April 25. Quezon City is a Manila suburb of more than 2 million people.

According to CNN, the fire destroyed 600 homes and displaced 2,500 families.

"We have nearby subprojects located in the area, and fortunately, they are all safe," said Rogelio de Vera of the Quezon project.

Risa P. Vereña, a Manila staff member, said that project does not serve anyone in the area of the fire.
